Julio Salcedo-Fernandez is the Chair of the Department of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Sustainability at City College and has taught at Harvard, Cornell, Syracuse and University of Pennsylvania. Prof. Salcedo is also a principal with Scalar Architecture. Previously, Prof. Salcedo has been acting director of the Master of Architecture Program. With over 22 years of experience of academic and professional experience, Prof. Salcedo continues to teach, research and practice. Prof. Salcedo has written a book theoretically framing my practice titled Generic Specific Continuum was published and was favorably reviewed by Professor Michael Sorkin, Professor Rafael Moneo and Prof. Rudolph El’khoury. Professionally, Prof. Salcedo is currently developing institutional projects – a transit oriented development-, landscape/master plan projects, and residential projects. Prior to funding Scalar Architecture, Prof. Salcedo worked for some of the most recognized firms in the field such as SOM, the sustainability leader Cook and Fox and Rafael Moneo. Prof. Salcedo is a registered architect in the EU and the US and has won major design awards such as the Architectural League Prize and the Europan Prize.
