Luis M. Mansilla, graduated from the E.T.S.A.M. in 1982, and obtained a Ph.D at the E.T.S.A.M. in 1998 (UPM extraordinary award). Emilio Tuñon Álvarez, graduated from the E.T.S.A.M. in 1981, and obtained a Ph.D at the E.T.S.A.M. in 1998 (honors degree cum laude).

In 1992, Emilio Tuñón Álvarez and Luis M. Mansilla establish the architecture firm MANSILLA+TUÑON ARQUITECTOS. Both are full professors in the Architectural Design Department of the Architecture School of Madrid, and they are visiting professors at several universities. In 1993 they created the thinking exchange cooperative CIRCO.

MANSILLA + TUÑON ARQUITECTOS have won many architecture competitions and they are built projects like MUSAC, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Castilla León (2004).
